The paintings of Jodi Endicott are truly sculptural works. From the very start she imagines painting the figure as if she were creating a sculpture. Endicott forms the armiture on canvas and then adds layers and layers of a variety of materials to develop her rich three-dimensional surfaces.

"My paintings are as much about the process as the materials I work with. These are very tough canvases as the paint has been layered, removed, marked, then burnished and layered again to get the effect I am looking for. I work it like a sculpture on a 2-dimensional plane. I am fortunate to be able to use so many different combinations of media to create such depth in the surface."
